Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue

Guinea Pigs Available for Adoption

Adoption Policy:

  1. Before applying, review the page about appropriate CAGES (click here) . It is very important to us that your guinea pig has a proper size cage!
  2. We do NOT SHIP guinea pigs. You must be able to come to us for the adoption.
  3. We do NOT ADOPT to minors. Heads-of-household only can apply to adopt. Please do not apply to adopt if you are a minor living with your parents.
  4. We do NOT ADOPT to people who have other pets living outdoors (with the exception of horses and other farm animals).
  5. Review important guinea pig DIET information: What to Feed Your Guinea Pig.

Adoption Fees:

  • $55 per neutered male guinea pig
  • $70 per spayed female guinea pig
  • $100 for bonded pairs (Pairs listed on the site together)
  • Unlike some other rescue groups, all of our guinea pigs are spayed/neutered and have been to a vet for a checkup prior to adoption. While the adoption fee helps to cover some of the vet costs, our expenses far exceed the adoption fees. Click Here to see why we feel that spaying/neutering our guinea pigs is so important. Not only does it control the guinea pig population, there are definite health benefits.
  • A contract must be signed at adoption time

Notice about adopting female guinea pigs: There is currently a higher demand for spayed, female guinea pigs than availability. There may be up to a two month waiting period after submitting an application. We are limited by which guinea pigs are available in the local shelters and availability of foster homes. We appreciate your patience when adopting.

Runt

You'd never know it by looking at me now, but I was a wee little runt. I only weighed half as much as my litter mates. I was lucky that I had the best mommy in the world and she made sure we all grew healthy and strong. I am growing up fast now and I have figured out that I really love girl piggies. My foster mommy says I'm a special boy and I believe her. PS -- I really LOVE to play with boxes. They're my favorite toy!

Could you please give me a forever friend and a forever home? I'm really, really ready :)

Tidbit

Hello there. I'm a cute little bit of a thing aren't I. I came into the rescue as a very small baby. My mother had already become pregnant again and kind of pushed me out of the nest way too early for me to be happy about it. THe nice people at MGPR found me a girl to play with and have helped me blossom into a big healthy girl. I'm ready for my own home now. I'll need a nice boy friend. Maybe thats one of MGPRs or maybe he's the guinea pig you have already. In any case I'm ready to be adopted. Please don't make me wait too much longer.

So one of our Face-book fans named me. It really is kind of a cute name. Especially when you consider that we guinea pigs do look more and more like taters as we age. So now seriously. I need a friend to live with. That could be your girl or one of ours. Then I need some one to couch potato with. Is that you? I know it's you. Just open your hear and let me in. You won't be sorry.

Hello Yes I'm a girl that has a little age on her but you know that makes many of us all that much sweeter. I'm a very sweet girl. My family was truly devastated to give me up. Sadly their transportation options to keep me with them would have been very difficult for me.So here I am on my own again and looking for a family as loving as the one I had. Could that be you? I sure hope it is. Note this is my baby pigture. Hopefully there will be a new one soon.

Well this is more than a bit embarrassing for a guy to have to share his most private business. But share I must. See I have this little muscle problem that keeps my boy part from fully retracting. It's not a big issue, it just needs to be checked on every few days and cleaned (GENTLY PLEASE) with a bit of water. I promise that the two of us are worth a bit of extra bother. So why don't you fill out an application to adopt us.

Hello, We are two little pigs that have lost our home. It was a good home and our mommy really loved us. Human things happened and we were taken in by MGPR. We like it here O.K. but our very own forever home to finish out our lives in would really be great. The people at MGPR are reducing our adoption fee to $70.00 because be are a bit older. While Jessica is a three year old spring chicken, I, Nathanial am a sexy six. Don't count me out yet. I'm in great health and loving life. So if you have room for a more mature pair of guinea pigs that will love you always... I think you have found us.

Hi aren't we just a lovely pair of guinea pigs? We had a very nice home with a loving mother but sadly things changed for her and we had to come back to MGPR. We are very happy to be back with old friends but would so like a new forever home of our very own. So if you have a bit of extra room in your hearts and home we could sure use a helping paw.

Personally we think he should have gone but that's not the way it worked out SIGH! So if you want a pair of lap ready snuggle bugs. We'll be right here waiting for you.
