Available Guinea Pigs

Adoption Policy »
  1. Before applying, review the page about appropriate CAGES (click here) . It is very important to us that your guinea pig has a proper size cage!
  2. We do NOT SHIP guinea pigs. You must be able to come to us for the adoption.
  3. We do NOT ADOPT to minors. Heads-of-household only can apply to adopt. Please do not apply to adopt if you are a minor living with your parents.
  4. We do NOT ADOPT to people who have other pets living outdoors (with the exception of horses and other farm animals).
  5. Review important guinea pig DIET information: What to Feed Your Guinea Pig.
  6. We have a "pairs policy". If you own a guinea pig, we are happy to help you find a compatible friend amongst ours. If you don't own a guinea pig, you may adopt a bonded pair or create a pair from our single guinea pigs. When you don't already own a guinea pig, we highly recommend adopting one of our bonded pairs - that way you know you have a pair that gets along, and won't run the risk of them not getting along once you get them home.

Fees »

  • $55 per neutered male guinea pig
  • $70 per spayed female guinea pig
  • $100 for bonded pairs (Pairs listed on the site together)
  • Unlike some other rescue groups, all of our guinea pigs are spayed/neutered and have been to a vet for a checkup prior to adoption. While the adoption fee helps to cover some of the vet costs, our expenses far exceed the adoption fees. Click Here to see why we feel that spaying/neutering our guinea pigs is so important. Not only does it control the guinea pig population, there are definite health benefits.
  • A contract must be signed at adoption time

Notice about adopting female guinea pigs:There is currently a higher demand for spayed, female guinea pigs than availability. There may be up to a two month waiting period after submitting an application. We are limited by which guinea pigs are available in the local shelters and availability of foster homes. We appreciate your patience when adopting.

Not that we don't like our foster mom and all but every pig wants to be owned ya know. Sadly I Moroccan (AKA Roc) have a bladder stone that is lodged in a place where it can't be removed. The nice people at MGPR have had it X-rayed repeatedly and it just isn't budging. Mean while we have been hanging around the rescue for almost a year.So we are hoping that someone will take a chance on us. Our Veterinarian says she isn't sure it will ever move and we should just get on with the business of finding a forever home. You know a nice lap to curl up on and stuff. So please fill out an application to adopt us today.

Type: Black / Brown Agouti/American Shorthair
    Age: 1 Year , 2 Months
    Altered:Spayed

Hello we are a sweet mother daughter pair. You would think that we needed each other because I Natasha am afraid with out my mom. Well that's not the case. My mom was treated badly and came out of a very stressful situation. She only managed to get to rescue a few hours before I was born. I keep telling her that the next place we go to live will be our safe haven forever home. Maybe you could adopt us and help me show my mom what unconditional love is. Please fill out an application to adopt us right away.

    Name:Shadow
    Sex:Male
    Type: Tri-Color/American Shorthair
    Age: 5 Years , 4 Months
    Altered:Neutered
    Special Needs:YES

Shadow is the most handsome old guy around! He is totally a people pig and loves to have snuggles with his foster parents. He may seem skittish at first, but he is more than happy to be picked up if he knows you're coming. He loves, loves, loves clementines. Shadow does have a slight "handicap" called impaction, which is a very low maintenance situation and not uncommon for an older male guinea pig. He is shy but seems to be interested in meeting other pigs - he just hasn't found his forever pig friend yet. He's hoping to meet you soon!

My name is Chiclet. Cute name for a cute girl, right? My foster mom says I purr a LOT when you pet me while I sit on your lap. I love chin rubs, too! You humans are magnificent for paying all this attention to me! I love my Oxbow treats. Who doesnt, right? Also, I like to kiss with my teeth, so my rescue group says only kids 12 and older can be part of my family. Hope to see you at the next adoption meet!

I'm Tucker, the handsome lad on the left. They say I have special needs but it's just that my poops can be a little soft. That's no problem, right? Boudica and I do have to be kept on paper bedding though - no fleece for us!

Boudica is my buddy and she's on my right. She's named after a warrior queen because she was left behind when her family moved and a kindly real estate agent found her. Boudica is very happy to be here with me now looking for her forever family. Together, we're an adorable furry pair of survivors who like veggies so much we'll sing for them! But I always get the biggest piece. Boudica and I hope to see you at the next event. We'd be a great pair for the first time guinea pig owners!

    Type: Tri-Color Mostly Black & White/Crested
    Age: 1 Year , 5 Months
    Altered:Spayed

My name is Galaxina but my foster mom (who sees all my guinea pig virtues) calls me Galaxy for short. This is an appropriate nickname as Im certain everyones galaxy must revolve around darling me, does it not? Im a smart, observant little one and nothing goes unnoticed by me so you are best off making sure to keep up the veggies and treats as I am paying attention. I am sleek and solid and love my snacks (who doesnt, right?). I have a cute little crest at the top of my head which only adds to my natural beauty. I like to be brushed so that I can keep up my guinea pig super model appearance. I hope to visit with you at the next adoption meet!

  •

    Name:Joan
    Sex:Female
    Type: Tri-Color/Short-Hair
    Age: 2 Years , 5 Months
    Altered:Spayed

Joanie is a great little piggy who needs a home that can be patient with her. She is very nervous around people, and really needs to find a family that can be understanding with her, and help her to learn that people really are good. She needs a family to love her, a piggy friend to live with. She is labeled as 12 yrs + because she's still afraid of people, and needs steady hands holding her. She loves to have her chin scratched during lap time, by the way. : )

  •

    Name:Philo
    Sex:Male
Type: Blonde With some Brown Agouti/American Shorthair
    Age: 8 Months
    Altered:Neutered

I have been busy training for the guinea pig Olympics. My favorite activities are running, running through an obstacle course, running into my pigloo, and running to grab leafy treats. The minute I hear your voice I'll be telling you it's time for my veggies because, when you're an athlete you have to take excellent care of your body.

  •

    Name:Mercury& Stutz
    Sex:Male
Type: Black White Blaze/Silkie & Shorthair
    Age: 2 Years , 4 Months
    Altered:Neutered
    Special Needs:YES

Well things didn't turn out quite like the rescue thought they would with us. We had been surrendered in a very large herd and standard protocol is to separate the males into single cages at the shelter we went to. So MGPR ended up with a few of us. To begin with we were in separate areas in the foster home but after some other pigs moved on we were put in a split cage. It was immediately apparent to our foster mom that we were buddies. We were totally gleeful to be near each other. It's very rare for MGPR to put boys together that were not in the same cage at the shelter. So our foster mom needed a second opinion. She transferred us top another home still in a split cage and that mom saw our deep affection for each other too. So here we are back together again and ready for a true forever home. We do have one small issue. I (Mercury) have soft poos. My behind needs to be checked every few days to be sure things are "moving" right. So we will be happiest on bedding not fleece.
