Adoption Policy »
  1. Before applying, review the page about appropriate CAGES (click here) . It is very important to us that your guinea pig has a proper size cage!
  2. We do NOT SHIP guinea pigs. You must be able to come to us for the adoption.
  3. We do NOT ADOPT to minors. Heads-of-household only can apply to adopt. Please do not apply to adopt if you are a minor living with your parents.
  4. We do NOT ADOPT to people who have other pets living outdoors (with the exception of horses and other farm animals).
  5. Review important guinea pig DIET information: What to Feed Your Guinea Pig.
Fees »

  • $55 per neutered male guinea pig
  • $70 per spayed female guinea pig
  • $100 for bonded pairs (Pairs listed on the site together)
  • Unlike some other rescue groups, all of our guinea pigs are spayed/neutered and have been to a vet for a checkup prior to adoption. While the adoption fee helps to cover some of the vet costs, our expenses far exceed the adoption fees. Click Here to see why we feel that spaying/neutering our guinea pigs is so important. Not only does it control the guinea pig population, there are definite health benefits.
  • A contract must be signed at adoption time

Notice about adopting female guinea pigs:There is currently a higher demand for spayed, female guinea pigs than availability. There may be up to a two month waiting period after submitting an application. We are limited by which guinea pigs are available in the local shelters and availability of foster homes. We appreciate your patience when adopting.

    Name:Aretha & Etta
    Sex:Female
Type: Tri Color/American Short Hair / Abyssinian
    Age: 2 Years , 6 Months
    Altered:Spayed
    Special Needs:YES

This sweet pair comes with curiosity as well as beauty. Aretha is very interested in everything that goes on in the room. Her foster mom says she is just nosy. Etta is more shy but is extra sweet. Coincidentally both girls have a permanent head tilt due to prior ear infections.

The girls are listed as special needs because Aretha has slight paralysis that prevents her from blinking and moistening her eye. As a result she gets an eye drop twice a day. They are wonderful girls and would love a permanent home with someone who has just a few minutes every day to make sure Aretha's eye stays healthy.

    Sex:Male/Female Pair
Type: Blond & White Brown & White/American Short Hair
    Age: 2 Years , 1 Month

    Special Needs:YES

Hello, Astra and I have had quite the adventurous lives so far and we are ready to settle down in our very last forever homes. Astra came to the rescue at 1 month old she was underweight and needed some TLC to get on her feet. She ended up being in rescue for 11 months before we were adopted out together. My name kind of tells my story. I came to the rescue small and took a very long time growing up. They made me feel like a pin cushion but in the end I was cleared, neutered and ready to be paired with Astra. Sadly our forever family didn't quite understand the concept of forever. They got bored with us and gave us back. Then there was more drama. I had a silly lump that needed to be removed. That went fine but while undergoing my presurgical exam they discovered a slight hear murmur. So the doctors wanted to track me for 6 months before clearing me for adoption again. Well at the 6 month mark my heart had improved and I'm good to go. So I don't need any special care but they have to mark me special needs to be sure you understand I've had issues. I mean haven't we all? Anyway this time we are hoping for our very real happily ever after forever home. Can you help a cute couple out?

    Sex:Male/Female Pair
Type: White & Cream / Brown Agouti/American Short Hair
    Age: 2 Years , 8 Months
    Altered:Neutered/Spayed
    Special Needs:YES

Hello, I'm Petra. I am a very sweet girl and I'm very eager to find my new forever home. I've had some good-bad luck since MGPR found me. First bad luck was two nasty lumps that had to be removed (probably infected bites) Good luck MGPR thought I was well worth the surgery and after care. Next bad luck, I've grown cataracts in both of my eyes. I'm blind now. Good Luck my great foster mom Pam realized something was wrong. Now I've been diagnosed and they can find the right kind of home for me. I'm going to need one with older children that can understand that the world is a scary place for me without my sight. The next good luck is going to be you adopting me. Then I'll know the bad luck is in my past. Nose touch Petra. Hi Tucker here. I've had some good bad luck too but it's all looking up for me now that I've met my lady love Petra. Please consider adopting us we are to sweet pigs that are ready for our forever home.

    Name:Kadence
    Sex:Female
    Type: Tri-Color/Peruvian
    Age: 1 Year , 7 Months
    Altered:Spayed
    Special Needs:YES

Oh, hey! Kadence here. Notice that accent? I'm from New York. I come from a big family with a lot of brothers. They told me that to make it in the city streets I needed to be tough & independent. I may take this to the extreme but, hey! What's that Marilyn Monroe quote? "Imperfection is beauty & it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than to be boring". When we began our journey to MGPR we had to stay in a lot of different shelters. I didn't find fun in those adventures so now I'm a very routine pig & change can make me anxious. I am no gypsy soul, that's for sure! I'm also wary of you humans. How am I supposed to know if you're one of the nice ones or not? I was eavesdropping on my foster Mom's phone conversation to her best friend & they said that chivalry is dead. Ahh! Run! & one last thing. I must admit I'm not too fond of having my hair tended to. It reminds me of my brothers stomping on it! Ouch! If you ignore my dramatic "week's" for too long I may declare you deaf & nip to get my point across. But in my weak moments I'm a very adorable hopeless little veggie beggin' fool & I must take at least one piece of my dinner from your hand before I feel that my meal is complete. You'll also never take one of my happy moments for granted. See, I've got it all figured out...

  •

    Name:Dixon
    Sex:Male
    Type: Black White Dark Brown/Peruvian
    Age: 1 Year , 7 Months
    Altered:Neutered

If you've never had a piggy with a triangular face, now is the time! I'm educational and lovable all in one. The good folks at MGPR can help you determine whether my long hair is something you'd enjoy caring for. Then, all I have to do is meet your girl and win her heart!

    Sex:Male
    Type: Black White Brown/Peruvian
    Age: 1 Year , 7 Months
    Altered:No

Hello I bet you can't guess how I got my name? Well maybe you can. I'm a very sweet boy that will need a bit of brushing here and there. I like to be held and can't wait to meet a forever friend and my very own forever family. I sure hope that's you.

  •

    Name:Maia
    Sex:Female
    Type: Black & White/American Shorthair
    Age: 11 Months
    Altered:Spayed

Maia is a lively and curious young girl - and typical for her age she loves to run and run around in her cage. She will sit nicely for lap time, that is, once you catch her. Like most guinea pigs she does not like to be picked up. She loves to know what is going on in the room at all times and is interested in everything.

Please note, Maia's poos are softer than is normal. We recommend she be kept on paper bedding or shavings (just not pine) rather than fleece so she stays clean.

  •

    Name:Yeti
    Sex:Male
    Type: Himalayan/Abyssinian
    Age: 10 Months
    Altered:Neutered
    Special Needs:YES

Well I think it's obvious from my pigture that I am a very curious little fellow. I need to know everything that's going on and I just love it when my foster mom comes into the room. I jump up on my pigaloo and tell her exactly what she needs to be doing. If you have an energetic little lady for me to settle down with that would be just perfect. At this point in time I am marked special needs. I am particularly active and a bit hard to hold. So for now older adopters with larger hands are a must for me. So adults and children over 12 please.

    Name:Wilbur

    Type: Brown Agouti/American
    Age: 1 Year , 4 Months
    Altered:Neutered

Templeton, Wilbur, Lurvey, Abel: A group of four of us share this story. Not long ago, there was a horse rescue going on, when somebody noticed a locked barn. Inside were us four adorable piggies! Charlotte the spider wasn't there to rescue this pig with words in her web, so MGPR stepped in instead. Adopt me as a friend for your pig to bring a little down-home country charm to your home!

    Name:Juliet
    Sex:Female
    Type: Tri-Color - White/Brown/Black/American Shorthair
    Age: 2 Years , 10 Months
    Altered:Spayed

Hey, I'm all about that base. If that's your kind of girl then here I am. It is true that the bad Dr. said I need to go on a slight diet but we don't really need to talk about that do we? I'm cuddly and just a bit squishy. The perfect pig to hold on your lap and read with. I need a friend too. If I had someone to piggy train with I'm sure we could just forget about the diet stuff right :)

  •

    Name:Ivory
    Sex:Female
    Type: White & Cream/Abyssinian
    Age: 1 Year , 8 Months
    Altered:Spayed

Hello I'm Ivory. You'll need to see my fur to really understand what a beautiful guinea pig I am. I do have a little problem I need to tell you about. I have a class 2 heart murmur. It needs no treatment and I will most likely live a long and healthy life. It will just mean that if I ever need a general anesthetic the veterinarian will need to be a little extra cautious with me. So please don't let this get in the way of adopting me. The very best thing for my little heart would be a handsome boy pig and a forever family of my very own. **A note from the foster parent** Ivory is such a cool piggy! She's very chatty and loves to wheek a lot. Surprisingly, she's not afraid at all of reaching into her cage for a quick pet. She stands still while I tickle behind her ears, her nose and head. She's a very happy little piggy with the cutest little pig face. She really is a delight to be around.

    Sex:Male
    Type: Red/White/Brown Agouti/American Shorthair
    Age: 3 Months
    Altered:Neutered

Hey there! My name is Pickle, and I am one handsome and silly pickle pig of a boy. My foster mommy calls me a "cute little bug" -- a lot. I'm pretty sure I'm a guinea pig and not a bug; and she keeps mentioning something about a smudgey mark on my nose that she loves to kiss. Look, I'm a boy, so I'm not really into kisses...Blech! Ok, well, maybe just once in a while, but don't tell anybody! I'm ready for a family to call my very own. My foster mommy says I'm super wiggly and I'm still learning to trust, so I should not be adopted to a family with small children. I'm your guy if you're ready to help me learn to trust and, yeah...give me occasional kisses in the nose!

    Special Needs:YES

Annika here. I'm sure you noticed that our listing says special needs. Well I want to tell you that the special need is not much :) See I'm a bit blind. O.K. I'm real blind but I don't let it bother me at all. I mean I like for things to be put back in the same place in our cage and I'm a bit frightened until I know you are around but that's all. As a matter of fact Carina and I are both big cry babies but we just haven't had anyone to hold us and love us for a long time. We are looking for a family with lot's of cuddle time. Our ambition in life is to be the very best snuggle pigs ever. So if you think you can help us with this. Please fill out an application to adopt us. Carina has very delicate little feet so no fleece please.

Well, I'm no goof ball even though my name might suggest it. I actually got my name from a little boy (an MGPR volunteer in training) who was concerned about me not having a name when I arrived. He dubbed me Ping Pong and gave me a great big hug. Are you ready to show me the same love?
