Available Guinea Pigs

Adoption Policy »
  1. Before applying, review the page about appropriate CAGES (click here) . It is very important to us that your guinea pig has a proper size cage!
  2. We do NOT SHIP guinea pigs. You must be able to come to us for the adoption.
  3. We do NOT ADOPT to minors. Heads-of-household only can apply to adopt. Please do not apply to adopt if you are a minor living with your parents.
  4. We do NOT ADOPT to people who have other pets living outdoors (with the exception of horses and other farm animals).
  5. Review important guinea pig DIET information: What to Feed Your Guinea Pig.
  6. We have a "pairs policy". If you own a guinea pig, we are happy to help you find a compatible friend amongst ours. If you don't own a guinea pig, you may adopt a bonded pair or create a pair from our single guinea pigs. When you don't already own a guinea pig, we highly recommend adopting one of our bonded pairs - that way you know you have a pair that gets along, and won't run the risk of them not getting along once you get them home.

Fees »

  • $55 per neutered male guinea pig
  • $70 per spayed female guinea pig
  • $100 for bonded pairs (Pairs listed on the site together)
  • Unlike some other rescue groups, all of our guinea pigs are spayed/neutered and have been to a vet for a checkup prior to adoption. While the adoption fee helps to cover some of the vet costs, our expenses far exceed the adoption fees. Click Here to see why we feel that spaying/neutering our guinea pigs is so important. Not only does it control the guinea pig population, there are definite health benefits.
  • A contract must be signed at adoption time

Notice about adopting female guinea pigs:There is currently a higher demand for spayed, female guinea pigs than availability. There may be up to a two month waiting period after submitting an application. We are limited by which guinea pigs are available in the local shelters and availability of foster homes. We appreciate your patience when adopting.

Hello Everyone. Well the two of us have been in rescue a very long time now and we think it's time to move on. Not that we don't like our foster mom and all but every pig wants to be owned ya know. Sadly I Moroccan (AKA Roc) have a bladder stone that is lodged in a place where it can't be removed. The nice people at MGPR have had it X-rayed repeatedly and it just isn't budging. Mean while we have been hanging around the rescue for almost a year.So we are hoping that someone will take a chance on us. Our Veterinarian says she isn't sure it will ever move and we should just get on with the business of finding a forever home. You know a nice lap to curl up on and stuff. So please fill out an application to adopt us today.

You humans are magnificent for paying all this attention to me! I love my Oxbow treats. Who doesnt, right? Also, I like to kiss with my teeth, so my rescue group says only kids 12 and older can be part of my family. Hope to see you at the next adoption meet!

    Altered:Spayed
    Special Needs:YES

Hi. Are you looking for a nice girl that will warm up to you very quickly? Well you have found her. I beg for head scratches and amvery nosy. I need to see everything that is going on in the room. I do have an issue. It's kind of a strange one. I kiss with teeth but not like other pigs.I love being held, I come to the cage side and jump up to be scratched, I really go almost into a trace state I like it so much. Then every day or ten I just reach around and give a chomp. I know that doesn't shed such a good light on me but I swear that both of my foster moms are totally in love with me and think it's not such and issue for adults or teens. I have so many other really strong pluses to my personality that I'm more than worth it. I'll need a friend too. So please fill out an application to adopt today. I'm truly a very special girl my foster moms say so.

Type: Brown Agouti & White / Blond & White/American Shorthair
    Age: 4 Years , 6 Months
    Altered:Neutered/Spayed
    Special Needs:YES

I'm Tucker, the handsome lad on the left. They say I have special needs but it's just that my poops can be a little soft. That's no problem, right? Boudica and I do have to be kept on paper bedding though - no fleece for us!

Boudica is my buddy and she's on my right. She's named after a warrior queen because she was left behind when her family moved and a kindly real estate agent found her. Boudica is very happy to be here with me now looking for her forever family. Together, we're an adorable furry pair of survivors who like veggies so much we'll sing for them! But I always get the biggest piece. Boudica and I hope to see you at the next event. We'd be a great pair for the first time guinea pig owners!

Hello there. My name is Boris and I was born at MGPR but it was quite an anxious time and they think I'm a little nervous because of it. I'm going to need a lot of TLC until I really get to know you. Is there a place in your heart and home for me?

    Sex:Male
Type: Brown Agouti and White/American Shorthair
    Age: 3 Months
    Altered:Neutered

Hey there. My name is Caliber and I am a guinea pig of exceptional caliber. Ok...maybe not. But I'm cute! My foster mommy says I'm a goober. She says she has rarely seen a guinea pig who makes as much noise as me. (See? I like to scream when she goes to pick me up and she thinks it's hilarious!) I can be pretty timid but I love to snuggle once you pick me up. My brother Cooper and I are really close buddies. We can be adopted together if you'd like. Or if you have a pretty pig-girl you'd like me to meet, I'm down for that, too.

  •

    Name:Cooper
    Sex:Male
    Type: Brown Agouti/American Shorthair
    Age: 3 Months
    Altered:Neutered

Hey there! My name is Cooper. I am one handsome young man and I'm pretty fun to hang with -- thus the reason why my foster mom sometimes calls me Mr. Cooper. My brother Caliber and I are pretty close buddies, so if you'd like to adopt us together, we think that would be pretty cool. If you have a pretty young guinea pig girl you'd like me to meet, though, I'd be down for that, too.

Hello! We are Parker and Paul two of the newest cuties at MGPR! We are very good natured and are good buddies. We love attention and people petting us. We understand good things come from people and well gladly let you pet us. We also love it when you come to feed us and we will come running to the side of the cage to be petted or hopefully see some veges coming into our cage! Do not worry, if you aren't quick enough in the morning to get us our veges or daily food pellets, we will sound our guinea pig alarm and squeak to let you know! BTW, we should have mentioned about us handsome dudes that Paul is Black and Parker is brown. Hope to see you soon!

Hi there. Well I've had quite a difficult time until I found MGPR. But they have gotten me back on my feet and I'm ready for a new life. I was surrendered to a shelter. The shelter was informed that I was loosing weight. They discovered a lump on my side and decided that I had cancer. They tried as hard as they could but they just couldn't get me to eat on my own. They were ready to euthanize me when MGPR called. When I arrived at MGPR I was a real mess. I couldn't eat, I couldn't lay down, I was in a little ball of pain hunch / fluff. Not only that but I was peeing blood. Right away they got me to one of their vets totally expecting that I was suffering from the dreaded bladder stones. My x-ray was a total surprise and told quite a different story. I had a broken back. I had been left to suffer week after week in terrible pain from an injury that was not disclosed to the shelter. Once they got me on some pain medication and a joint supplement everything changed. Now I am going to need to take a supplement the rest of my life. It's called Fluid Action HA liquid. I take it very nicely for my foster mom. You will also need to handle me a bit gently but aside from that I'm all healed and ready to rock and roll. I do still have my lump but the veterinarian says it's nothing to worry about. I guess we should address my age too. No age was given on my surrender papers. I could be anywhere between three to five. It's hard to tell with me because of the injury.Oh and the pee thing. The doctor thinks that what ever happened to break my back also bruised my kidneys causing the blood, that cleared up too.

I hope you all take a good look at my face because I'm the guinea pig that intends to steal your heart. Can you believe my gorgeous colors? Brown seems like such a boring word to use to describe a guinea pig of my beauty. I'm going to need a boy friend and my foster mom is pretty sure I'm going to be a sassy girl. So if you can handle a little sass and a lot of abbytude. put in an application to adopt me.

This is an appropriate nickname as Im certain everyones galaxy must revolve around darling me, does it not? Im a smart, observant little one and nothing goes unnoticed by me so you are best off making sure to keep up the veggies and treats as I am paying attention. I am sleek and solid and love my snacks (who doesnt, right?). I have a cute little crest at the top of my head which only adds to my natural beauty. I like to be brushed so that I can keep up my guinea pig super model appearance. I hope to visit with you at the next adoption meet!

    Type: Cream & Orange/Teddy
    Age: 3 Years
    Altered:Neutered

Hello Hudson here I'm a handsome guy with a really unusual coat. It's a Teddy coat so it's course and has the neatest fade from my rather orange face to my cream behind. I'm an easy boy to handle, but my ears are going to need a little attention. That not unusual with Teddy breeds. They just need a little cleaning once a week. I'm a very sound sleeper and need a bit of of a wake up call. What can I say a guy needs to chillax.
